Dr. Gunstra complete both her Bachelors and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degrees at Purdue University where she achieved multiple awards and academic scholarships. Following graduation from Purdue, she practiced for several years and eventually became medical director at a primary care, emergency, and referral practice in Indianapolis, IN. However, her passion for surgery brought her back to specialty medicine and she completed both her surgical internship and residency in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Gunstra has conducted research and produced publications on the topics of orthopedic disease and the fungal disease, Coccidioidomycosis, regional to the desert southwest. Dr. Gunstra joined Carolina Veterinary Specialists in August of 2018. Her personal interests include running, hiking, backpacking, and pretty much anything outdoors.
