CVS CharitiesMurray's Fund | CC's Heart Fund Murray's Fund "Man's best friend." After Murray I am a true believer in this statement. She found me as a puppy and was at my side for fourteen years. Through school, jobs, and relationships, she was always there taking care of me as much as I took care of her. Murray was still very active and energetic into her teens, and though I knew she would not be around for 20 years, I was certainly hopeful that as a small dog, she would make it to 16 or maybe 18 if I were lucky. Then there was the day I found the lump on her leg. And the horrible diagnosis: Cancer.I was referred to an oncology specialist for treatment. I was willing to do whatever was necessary as long as her quality of life was not compromised. Through chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and eventually amputation of her leg, Murray never missed a beat. Even on three legs, she never gave up on chasing that annoying squirrel or rolling around in the snow. Her treatments extended her life for almost a year. It was a year that I will always be grateful for having. In the end, Murray was still looking out for me. If it had not been for her, I would never have met the person that I would eventually marry - her oncologist Claudia!! -Bryan McFadden

Donating to Murray's Fund CC's Heart Fund On April 5, 1996, CC was born. It was love at first site. She brought so much joy into our lives. Our favorite times together were picnics on the living room floor, dancing to the radio in the kitchen and snuggling on the couch for football Sundays. Hide and seek was her favorite game. Poodles were bred to be water retrievers but the only thing she retrieved was the bag from the drive thru window at Chick-Fil-A or Cook Out. Her idea of a dog walk was for us to walk and her to be carried. Yes, some might say she was a little spoiled. Every day spent with CC was a gift.
Because we understand that every day is a gift to be cherished, we want to help other families have the same opportunity to create more memories. We started CC's Heart Fund to say thank you first and foremost to CC for completing our family, but also to Dr. Sayer at CVS and Dr. Chambers at CAS for their passionate dedication in caring for our four-legged children. Thank you to all who join us by donating. Giving to CC's Heart Fund will give hope to families in a time of crisis. - CC's Parents Donating to CC's Fund |

When she was 10, CC's health began to fail and our vet Dr. Jay Chambers referred us to Dr. Peggy Sayer, a cardiologist at Carolinas Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Sayer diagnosed CC with Congestive Heart Failure. On several visits, we had our doubts CC would be coming home with us. But she did come home and with the efforts of Dr. Sayer and others at CVS, we were given 3 more wonderful years with our baby girl. On July 28, 2009 our time here on earth with CC ended. We are comforted knowing she continues to watch out for us and to wait for us.
