Animal Emergency & Trauma Center Services

Think of Animal Emergency & Trauma Center as an extension of your family veterinarian. We know your veterinarian can't be available every hour of every day. Late night, week-ends, holidays, and any time that you are unable to reach your family veterinarian, we are here to help. Our goal is to provide the same good service as seamlessly as possible. When we have done our part, we provide a complete report and return your pet to your family veterinarian for ongoing care as soon as possible.

Our doctors, technicians, and nurses are specially trained in emergency medicine and triage. We are Huntersville's most experienced emergency veterinary team. We are totally dedicated to what we do. We have access to all of the resources of Veterinary Specialists hospitals, including 24-hour intensive care. If necessary we can call upon the skills of CVS's board certified specialists.

Payment Policy

We will provide a good-faith estimate of the cost of our services before treating your pet. However, unforeseen circumstances may arise that influence your final bill. A deposit toward the cost of services is required in all emergency cases, and in some instances, a deposit is required for surgeries and other procedures. Payment in full is expected at the time services are provided or upon discharge of your pet. We accept payment by cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard, and payment by CareCredit. Upon approval, the CareCredit option allows you to finance the cost of services with a 90 day interest-free plan. Note: If you are depending on CareCredit to finance your bill, you must have your application approved prior to committing to the services.

Communicating With Us

We want your communications with us to be clear, concise, and easy. Our receptionists will be able to answer many of your questions but please understand that they are not medically trained. Whenever a receptionist cannot answer your question, a veterinary technician or the doctor will be consulted so that your inquiry is properly answered. When it is necessary for you to communicate directly with your pet's doctor, it will work best to let us return your call. No pager numbers please! If your pet is admitted for a procedure or critical care, we will call you with an update each day before noon.

Visitation Policy

If your pet is admitted for treatment, please remember that this is a hospital setting with designated "visiting hours". You may visit for 30 minutes, twice daily, unless your pet is confined to the intensive care unit where visits are limited to 5 minutes, twice daily. Any special requests must be prearranged with the attending clinician. Visiting hours are during the hours of 10am-2pm, and 7pm-11pm, daily.

Discharging Your Pet From The Hospital

For specialty hospital patients, we strongly recommend that you pick up your pet during our regular business hours, weekdays 8 am to 5 pm, unless otherwise instructed by your pet's doctor. Emergency service patients can be picked up at any time, although it is best to do it after-hours. Following these recommendations will assure you of having contact with the doctor or technician most familiar with your pet's case history.

Consent

We are specialists in the treatment of difficult and unusual conditions. Nonetheless, we cannot guarantee the success of a therapy or procedure. As is typical in most human and animal medical practices, you will be asked to sign a consent agreement asserting your understanding that unforeseen conditions or complications may arise. Please read the consent form carefully before signing it.
